Dental Implants

If you have ever felt uncomfortable to smile because of a broken tooth or were afraid to eat an apple because of loose dentures, you may want to consider dental implants. Dental implants feel like your natural teeth because they are fused into the jaw bone and are natural looking, so you can smile with confidence knowing you look your best!

A broken tooth or loose dentures are just two reasons why a person may want to get dental implants. Other reasons include preventing teeth from moving into a missing tooth’s space, improve chewing ability, correct speech, or simply replace a missing tooth.

During the first visit, a series of x-rays and impressions (molds) will be taken to determine the proper size and spacing required. Implant placement could be done under local, oral or IV sedation. Dr. Cameron Torabi and his team will discuss with you different options in sedation and implantology, so that you completely understand the procedures and your choices. On the day of surgery, implants which are artificial roots made of titanium are inserted into the jawbone.

It can take up to six months for the implant to properly fuse to bone. Some styles of implants have the post and anchor already attached so they are placed at the same time. However, if the choice of dental implant requires it, a second surgery may be required to fit a post in place that holds the artificial tooth.

While the healing of the first visit is underway, the teeth will be created in a dental laboratory using the impressions taken during the initial visit. Should several fittings be needed, this would take place over one or two months. After the implants are fully healed, the teeth are attached. Our clients find dental implants to be both very stable and comfortable.

You will be given thorough care instructions when the treatment is completed. Good hygiene, eating habits and regular checkups are all part of the recommended care for your new dental implants. Most important to aid in the speedy recovery and healthy healing of the dental implants is to be sure to smile big and smile often.
