Endodontics

The term endodontics comes from the Greek words "endo" (inside) and "odons" (tooth), and refers to one of several specialized fields of dentistry recognized by the American Dental Association (ADA).  This form of dentistry primarily focuses on the roots, the pulp chamber and the pulp of the tooth.

Root canal therapy has not always been a comfortable procedure for patients due to the old techniques used in endodontics over the past few decades. Modern dentistry however has revolutionized this procedure due advanced technology and materials.

Root canal therapy is required when the tooth pulp, located at the center of the tooth, becomes infected as a result of decay, trauma, repeated dental procedures, or spontaneous degeneration.  In such situations, Dr Torabi will remove the affected tooth structure, thoroughly clean the infection and finally seal the root canal(s) with a special root filling material.

Endodontic procedures are often performed by cosmetic dentists, since any severe decay or infections must be properly treated before cosmetic procedures can be completed.

Modern day endodontics involves the use of sophisticated endodontic techniques, state-of-the-art technology and new materials to perform procedures which are highly successful at restoring the function, strength and stability of an infected and/or damaged tooth.  At Brentwood Smile we utilize advanced anaesthesia techniques to ensure a painless and comfortable procedure for our clients.
