Dental bridges are used to replace missing teeth and restore smiles.
Fixed dental bridges are non-removable appliances and therefore provide
a more stable and permanent restoration solution than partial dentures.
As there are several types of dental bridges available, we will
discuss which option will be best for you. Porcelain fixed bridges, are
currently the most popular option available. These fixed dental bridges
are made from either porcelain fused to metal or all ceramic, both of
which have a very natural look that makes the bridge practically
undetectable.
Porcelain fixed bridges are secured with crowns placed on two
anchoring teeth, also known as abutment teeth. The crowns are attached
to artificial teeth (pontics) which fill in the space left by missing
teeth.
As a result of normal wear, porcelain fixed bridges may need to be
replaced or re-cemented eventually. However, fixed bridges are very
durable and will provide long-lasting, highly natural smile restoration.

The Procedure:
Getting a porcelain fixed bridge is a procedure that typically takes
two appointments. The portion of your mouth to be worked on will be
numbered before preparation of the anchoring teeth in. Next a highly
accurate impression is taken so that our master dental technicians can
fabricate a custom made restoration for you. A temporary bridge is
placed in the mean time. The final restoration is typically ready in
ten working days.
Once the permanent bridge is ready, you will return for your second
appointment at which point we will carefully adjust and cement the
bridge, ensuring an accurate placement and fit.
Following a good oral care routine is key to ensure a healthy and long lasting porcelain bridge.
