Procedure:
Having veneers placed on your teeth is a procedure that typically requires two appointments. Generally local anesthesia is sufficient; however, various sedations are available to our patients as well. The first step involves lightly preparing the surface of the tooth to make room for the porcelain veneer. We will then take an impression of the tooth or teeth which will be sent to our laboratory for fabrication. Many shades are available for you to choose from.
When you return for your second appointment, we will use special liquids to carefully clean the teeth. This is done to ensure a durable bond between the veneer and teeth. Once that step is complete, we will use a special composite cement to bond each veneer to its corresponding tooth. A special light will then be used to harden the cement.
Once the procedure is complete, we will provide you with instructions on how to care for you veneers. You should care for veneers as you would for your natural teeth. Keep a good home hygiene routine and visit us every six months to ensure a long lasting, healthy smile.
